Description
IPConfigure has shipped GStreamer WebRTC in production video management products since 2018. This talk will outline the evolution of our WebRTC implementation, from hand-rolled pipelines that predate webrtcbin to our full migration onto it in 2022. It will also cover what actually breaks when you stream from on-premise recorders to browsers across networks you don't control: ICE and STUN failures from enterprise and carrier networks, browser bugs including one where Safari silently drops connectivity checks for candidate pairs it reports as active, and the gap between what surveillance cameras encode and what browsers will accept. Attendees will leave with failure signatures they can recognize in their own deployments and the diagnostic workflows we use to isolate them.
