DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Simon Himmelbauer ()\nWe implemented a ringbuffer el
ement to keep hundreds of video frames in a GStreamer pipeline and only em
it buffers to the sink when requested. While its implementation was straig
htforward\, we found out that other components\, such as Video4Linux2 and
PipeWire\, are not primarily designed for keeping large amount of frames i
n memory for extended periods.\nSpecifically\, we extended PipeWire to tra
ck buffer ownership across clients in order to improve how buffers are qu
eued back to the V4L2 driver.\n\nThis presentation details our journey and
lessons learned and will cover the following topics:\n\n - Implementation
of a ringbuffer element in GStreamer\n - Impact on buffer management of G
stV4l2BufferPool\n - Ensuring zero-copy across the entire Gstreamer pipeli
ne\n - Challenges of using ringbuffer in combination with PipeWire and V4L
 2\n - Buffer tracking in PipeWire\n\nhttps://indico.freedesktop.org/event/
